System build-up “Bee Pasture” – Ensures a Long-lasting Supply of Nectar and Pollen

There is plenty of proof of a strong decrease in the concentration of wild bees and honey bees due globalised, industrial forms of land use (mono-culture, chemical crop protection, etc.). The resulting lack of pollination by bees will have fatal consequences for food production.

In order to counter this development, Zinco has created an efficient compensation site on the roof with the system build-up “Bee Pasture”.

The system build-up ”Bee Pasture“ is an extensive green roof and one module of a “Biodiverse Green Roof” with a special focus on a long-lasting supply of  nectar and pollen. The plant mixture, which is specifically adapted to meet the needs of the bees, therefore, provides a constantly blossoming “landing zone” from April to September. The vegetation layer comprises plug plants included in the Zinco “Bee Pasture” plant list. As a result, partial areas can be occupied subsequently “per bee”.

Additional irrigation is required to maintain the nectar and pollen production during drought periods.

→ Long-lasting supply of nectar and pollen for bees

→ Can also be realised on partial roof areas

→ Blooming period from April to September
